Lighter shadows
When we first held hands
I was rather shy
We were so young
How time does fly
You met me at the bus stop
At the corner by the park
My worried mother said
Be home before dark
It was a summer’s day
So we had many hours,
to hold hands and kiss
and dance around the flowers
We were in our sixteenth year
Life had just begun
Does everyone remember,
the very first one?
.
Over thirty years later
We are have much to tell
We have taken different paths
I know you did well
You wrote me a song
When I was sixteen
You have written many more
You accomplished your dream
How would it feel
If we held hands again
Dancing in the dark
Down the very same lane
Looking at our shadows
Beneath the street light
Then once again
We would kiss goodnight
I was rather shy
We were so young
How time does fly
You met me at the bus stop
At the corner by the park
My worried mother said
Be home before dark
It was a summer’s day
So we had many hours,
to hold hands and kiss
and dance around the flowers
We were in our sixteenth year
Life had just begun
Does everyone remember,

I know you did well
You wrote me a song
When I was sixteen

Dancing in the dark
Down the very same lane
Looking at our shadows
Beneath the street light
Then once again
We would kiss goodnight
