Journey Pt. 3
We walked along the cold blue sands. Stopping to the stillness of the hollow, empty city. I gazed to the illuminated white sand where the moon seeped through the ceiling. My companion walked to my side urging me to go forward. I stared half smiling as he was the one to always be ahead of me. I took point and stared along the walls of the city. My body felt an unnerving feeling as I walked deeper into the once great city. My companion gazed over my shoulder and ran past me chasing a Carpet. I regained my balance looking to my companion calling to him but it wasn't any good. I then hurried after my companion as he disappeared from my sight. I searched left to right but he was nowhere to be found. I walked with calls for my companion but nothing stirred but the sounds of the flowing sands and yelps of the cloth creatures. Having given up hope of finding my companion I carried on, looking back from time to time. I stared to hollow buildings and lifeless statues of the white robed figures I've met along my road. Soon after, the Carpet appeared and I rushed to it as it flowed along the sand. I stared at it as it hovered in front of me before flying deeper into the city. I was quick to follow after it in hope to find my playful companion. we rushed through the city like the wind, jumping over broken pillars. Soon I found my playful companion sitting on a hill my eyes filled with relief and his happiness as he rushed to me.
I then playfully smacked his head to ensure he would never run off again. He felt sad that I did that but figured out that he did something that made me feel worried. I sighed lightly before moving up the hill as he followed closely behind. We stared to many silk carpets anchored to the ground swaying with the winds. We jumped and flew past them as they reacted to our scarfs giving us arms to allow us to pass. We flew passed them as they carried us high into the city. They began to disappear and we fell into a narrow hall. A faint light appeared at the end of this corridor and we walked closer to it slowly. The light then faded and I stared to the statue and realized it looked familiar. I urged my companion to stay close and we walked passed the statue. Soon bangs coming from the city stopped us in our tracks. I was feeling uneasy about this part of the city but we had to move forward. The Carpet creature appeared again and my playful companion chased it yet again. I called for him as he chased after it.
Once the Carpet got to the center of the room a great beast burst from the sand turning the Carpet into lifeless fabric. My companion and I stood terror struck as it gazed to my playful companion with a stone eye of blue light. It then soared towards my companion and I quickly rushed to push him away from it's path. It slammed into me sending me flying through the air as it soared into the abyss of the city. As I crashed along the sands my companion rushed to my side calling loudly, the echos made it seem it happened to someone else in another part of the city. I lay, my body ached and bruised, but I just laughed lightly as my companion stared worried and confused. I got up slowly and looked to my playful companion with relief he was safe. Howls began coming from the city and spotlights scanned around the streets of sand. Me and my companion rushed to cover as a spotlight was heading our way. As it stalked past us I noticed it's structure, it was the stone golem the white robed figures had built. Seeming everything was clear we hurried through the city taking cover every chance we got. We stared as the stone golem stalked towards a school of Cloth creatures. It's blue gaze turned red before swooping down to devour the helpless creatures before retreating into the shadows. My companion walked slowly to the lifeless fabric staring, hoping they'd return to the way they were before. I walked to his side softly calling before nudging him and he returned to me.
We stood up a hill watching the stone golems scan the street of sand, this was the only way. We slided down with our hearts rapidly pounding against our chests as the stone golems gazed towards us. They crept closer and closer as they're blue stone gaze began turning red. Was this the end of our journey? That was the question I asked myself. Sudden as we reached the bottom of the narrow hill a light flashed and gylphs flowed across the air. The stone golems retreated back into the abyss of the city. We looked around to find the statue of our guide standing with the glowing circle in front of it. We were relieved to see that statue of the white robed figure again. As we stepped into the glowing circle I stood along side the white robed figure and stared to the mountain summit. I looked up to the white robed figure as he returned my gaze. The vision he showed was the city my playful companion and I had crossed. The sand showed it's secret to me we had been crossing over graves of the white robed figures. My heart sank to the thought we had been crossing over a graveyard the whole time. When the sand took back the space the city stole, on a lonely hill where the stars had scattered across the sky it showed...me? I was confused. As the light subdued I sat full of unanswered questions but that was for another time. I looked to my playful companion who stared into the eyes of the white robed figure's statue. I nudged him and he returned to me with a blank expression. We then walked towards the narrow hall ready to see whats ahead.
We walked down the hall before stopping to the sight of a great tower. We began circling the tower gazing from all angles. I looked along the walls to investigate as my companion ran around the tower again. I noticed something against the wall of the tower then walked closer to have a look. I stared closely not knowing my companion was peeking over my shoulder. He then touched the tablet causing it to illuminate. I looked to him before looking around from the banging noises around. Suddenly the tower glowed and thousands of cloth creatures appeared attracted to the glow like moths to light. My companion and I's body began to feel light in the mysterious light the tower gave. We began to soar higher towards the towers peak meeting more kinds of cloth creatures. Some were shaped as a jelly fish flowing with the ocean currents. Others were as great as the stone golems we met in the cold sands of the hollow city. But one creature was different, it was unique. It had a head shaped like the crescent moon glowing rings and balls was it's form. It playful danced along side the Cloth creatures before circling around my playful companion. It then circled around me and it's divine light was different from anything I've felt before. Soon after it soared half way down the great tower. We watched it leave my companion waved and I smiled. Upon reaching the peak of the tower we saw the statue of our guide. We stepped into the glowing circle and the white robed figure stood before us both. We stared up to it as it changed the air around us. My companion and I gazed along the walls to see both of our feats. The broken bridge we restored, the sea of sand surrounding the great stone castle, The river of flowing sands through the sunken city we glided across on, The hollow city of resting souls where only the stone golems inhabited, and finally the great tower of divine light with the lonesome creature patiently waiting. But something else was shown. It showed two of us in the the hardships we did but this only showed one enduring the cold winds of the mountain. I looked to my playful companion and promised to myself we'd get through this. We both then gazed to the white robed figure as he faded away. Once he disappeared a gate opened and we felt the cold winds of the mountain. I looked to my companion as he did the same. His flare for adventure still burned and together we set foot to the mountain.
