Alike Red Cinderella

There was expectation here,
A midnight time restraint,
A Cinderella story fit for behaviors
That did not condone complaint

But who was I kidding,
I lived no fairy tale
I was not accustom to propriety
I was only raised to fail

I was never meant to be in silks
Only clothes for street-wise urchins,
Not meant for palace halls,
Only the shack that I was birthed in

Yet I was thrown out here
In this ruby gown of gems
Beneath eyes that watches,
Hated and condemns

He was ready for my slip up
For the lie he thought I’d sown
But the tale that I had weaved,
Was the only tale I’d known

But he did not believe it
Thought there was some hidden scheme
He did not realize
It was a little girl’s only dream
