Icing on the Cake
Hypocrisy blankets the world
Like fondant on a cake.
Looking smooth and smelling sweet;
Kneaded and shaped by the
Master Bakers' hands.
On Society,
They place it with care.
Pretty it appears.
Pastel colors, pretty flowers.
Pretty ribbons.
Pretty bows.
Added as confusion;
(Shh, nobody knows).
Open mouths gape wide,
And wide eyes stare.
Dazzled by the craftsmanship;
Marveling with awe, the sugary
confection,
Eager to gobble the Masters' conceptions.
But it's a sheet of fat!
Masking the true dessert.
A cake of wonders
So rich, so moist,
So full of surprise!
A splendor well hidden
By a dry, frosting crust;
Empty of flavor
It's like a thick layer of dust.
Now's the time, people - wake up!
Cut into the cake.
Cut through the illusions;
Expose the Masters' piece;
Show what's been hidden
underneath.
Like fondant on a cake.
Looking smooth and smelling sweet;
Kneaded and shaped by the
Master Bakers' hands.
On Society,
They place it with care.
Pretty it appears.
Pastel colors, pretty flowers.
