Old Ghosts

Lovely ghosts
Circling my head
Getting stuck in my throat
They'll never really be dead

The auburn ghost was first
Clever & skinny & pale
She teased my ravenous thirst
Then outran her quiet snail

The ghost with sandy curls
Glares upset & shy
But didn't she know her perfect world
Could never concentrate my wandering eye

Golden ghost is beyond me
Confusion is our common ground
We just want to jump out to the sea
But vice kept us locked down

Lovely ghosts
Haunting my dreams
Make my brain roast
As I try to sleep through their screams
