I Remember the Times
I remember the times
Waking up at the break of dawn
Nestled sweetly in your arms
Listening to your quiet
Snoozing, in sweet harmony
With the happy chirping of the early birds
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
When we would make
Blueberry pancakes on Sunday mornings
Stayed in bed all day long while
Reading the paper, a book and watching TV.
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
When we needed to be close, we would
Dance, slowly all night long,
Holding each other in our arms
While swaying to the songs of love on the radio
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
We often sang the words to our favorite songs
I was the chores you were the bridge
Singing to each other the lyrics but the words
Were always wrong
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
We would play
Heated games of
Backgammon, you said
I cheated, and I said you did
In the end you would always
Let me win
Hoping to get lucky
In the end
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
In the mist of many a quiet evening
With you laying in my arms
Watching the colors of the slow setting sun
Those were the best of days
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
I use to think about you all day
When I couldn’t wait
Rushing home to you
Eager to see your smiling face
And make sweet love
To my lover and friend
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
Waking up at the break of dawn
Nestled sweetly in your arms
Listening to your quiet
Snoozing, in sweet harmony
With the happy chirping of the early birds
I remember the times
We were lovers
Now we are just friends
When we would make
