Lucid, hearing a voice from within
Then distant voices mingle louder
Drowning, floating, sink or swim.
Eyes look back can’t see but hear
Unable to move drowning in my deepest fear.
Then suddenly darkness, then suddenly pain
My chest is heaving
Heart pounding faster than a steam train.
A face appears
Is this heaven? Is she an angel?
My lips are moving but unable to speak.
The angel looks down with a worried smile
Beyond the chaos my mother crying
Then suddenly my father’s voice
Focus on the voices & whispered conversation
I feel my tears my friends are all dead.
Recalling screams then mass slaughter
Twisted bodies
Broken glass then silence,
Unable to move
In darkness, not a trace of light
Nothing stirs.
Focusing on the machine next to me
Beeping, watching my every heartbeat
A momentary calmness fills the air.
Everything turns black
A stampede of wild animals runs across my chest
Pounding my body into submission.
Beyond help
Then darkness a silent shroud
My angels face can’t be found.
Then distant voices mingle louder
Drowning, floating, sink or swim.
Eyes look back can’t see but hear
Unable to move drowning in my deepest fear.
Then suddenly darkness, then suddenly pain
My chest is heaving
Heart pounding faster than a steam train.
A face appears
Is this heaven? Is she an angel?
My lips are moving but unable to speak.

Beyond the chaos my mother crying

Unable to move
In darkness, not a trace of light
Nothing stirs.
Focusing on the machine next to me
Beeping, watching my every heartbeat
A momentary calmness fills the air.
Everything turns black
A stampede of wild animals runs across my chest
Pounding my body into submission.
Beyond help
Then darkness a silent shroud
My angels face can’t be found.
