Her Monsters
The shadows covered the walls,
but there was nothing making them.
She was sitting in her bed
keeping away from the edges
because she knew they were there.
She knew hands were waiting to drag her under
and do most unspeakable things.
A low roaring was beginning,
it was coming from her closet.
The door knob suddenly started to turn
and all noises and shadows ceased,
all but the door.
It squeaked open slowly,
dreadfully slow.
From behind the door she could hear deep breathing,
wheezing,
and a most ungodly smell burned her nose.
And then,
all went black.
No noise could be heard any where.
Until her scream filled the air.
when the lights came on,
she was gone
and everything was in order.
but there was nothing making them.
She was sitting in her bed
keeping away from the edges
because she knew they were there.
She knew hands were waiting to drag her under
and do most unspeakable things.
A low roaring was beginning,
it was coming from her closet.
The door knob suddenly started to turn
and all noises and shadows ceased,
all but the door.
It squeaked open slowly,
dreadfully slow.
From behind the door she could hear deep breathing,
wheezing,
and a most ungodly smell burned her nose.
And then,
all went black.
No noise could be heard any where.
Until her scream filled the air.
when the lights came on,
she was gone
and everything was in order.
