Small Thoughts

Small Thoughts I

Drowsy evenings stroll lazy across my droopy eyes.
My heart feels its flutter like caged butterflies.

Drained of my senses I hear you leave.
No longer do I have the strength to grieve.

Listening to echos from the past.
We knew before we started it wouldn't last.

Leaning into shadows, trying not to pine.
Wish men could be camels, thirst less through time.

Small Thoughts II

Sitting in the dark, I play a game.
Perhaps you will call my name?

Minutes trickle by, unnoticed like me.
Waiting for you to see...
I need my sanity, and you hold the key.

Trapped in the dark, I play a game.
Perhaps you will love me again?

Small Thoughts III

Living on our own island,
we don't realise.
The ocean surrounding us
is a sea of islands too.

Each of us confined within
our own desires, expectations and frustrations.
We let the waves of life wash over us and ebb away.

Love is like salt water, glimmering and shinning,
inviting us for a swim.
But leaving us thirsty forever.
