Critical

A life of criticism
must be a painful thing,
knowing that every day
with the breaking dawn
one must arise
with the mission
to find fault
with everything
and everyone.

the obvious,
the slight,
the infinitesimal,
the obscure,
the slightest twitch,
the odd wording,
the inconsequential deviation,
the tapping,
the non sequitur,
the free form jazz expression
    of a poetic notion
    to break the monotony
    of a drive
    into the brick wall
           of being the bearer
                 of bad news.

I hate to tell you,
you may not like this,
this may hurt you,
the brutal truth is,
    that God awful fucking brutal truth
    that makes the breaker
         of it all the more brutal
               for having ever awakened
                     at all …………………………………………ever
in order to be the bearer
of such uninviting news.  

If I never
had another day
of the constant reminders
that regardless
of what I do,
there were always things
that needed improving,
that were not quite up to standard,
that needed tweaking,
but that's alright, Dear,
you did as good as you could,
as well as could be expected;
I love you anyways.  
Really.
