THERE IS NOBODY HOME

They left the key to the house for me on the kitchen table and I notice it today
I turn to my left before I turn to my right
No one in sight, no one in sight.
I could take this key and unlock the door, I could pack my bags I could leave today.
But I must stay, I must stay.
I must stay because they need me around,
I make a plan and they shoot it down,
They aren’t shooting me down today because they don’t believe in me no, they are shooting me down because they know that I might have a chance if only I would leave.
I can’t go, I can’t go because they have me tied to this leash, I lock the door instead because I cannot leave.
I cannot leave because they need me around, living is supposed to be living for me but they will not understand no they never held my hand and gave me the credit I deserve, our outlook on life has become so diverse. I am still living in their life when I am supposed to have a life of my own.
I turn the key and I lock the door because there is nobody home, there is nobody home.
