She Hates Me

How can I tell your soft little face,
Round with it's innocence,
Words you can't understand?
Meanings I have just put together-
A puzzle of our lives,
That he gave to us.

She hates me.

No baby, she does not.
She does not understand.
No more than I or you.
She's left with this puzzle to.
That he left us.

If so, I hate you more-
I hate you longer,
I've hated you since the day you came-
Tiny kicking feet with red chubby cheeks.
What sister is this baby?
What blood do we share?
What one thing do we have the same-
But the man who holds you there,
Right there, behind you, with you-
Holding you in those arms.
That held me,
And her.
Once in our young eyes.

She can't hate you-
Can she?
When her body shakes with tears,
When her fists clench with anger,
When she pulls at her hair-
Why is he never there?
The man you have.

Angry, so angry.
At the life he gave us.
The puzzle of our lives.

Baby, she doesn't hate you-
She just can't say,
Nor find the words to begin,
She hates him.
