Forgot To Remember To Forget

Must remember to forget
Your name that’s on my tongue
On the tip of the ice berg
There’s so much more

That spot where you laid
For hours, next to me
I could cry for another few
But it wouldn’t change a thing

Our song, on the radio
Playing while we waited
For our lives to begin
It ended when we did

Your laugh, fresh as rain
Warmed me when it was cold
I’m caught in the rain again
And it all slips away, decays

That sweater, sweetest scent
With a skull on the front
Burrowed into mine
Must be ripped to shreds

Your eyes, window to a soul
That matched mine perfectly
Broke fate in half, and that means
We’ve screwed with nature

A future to love and hate
As long as you were there
I’d make it through
Now I’m trapped in the past

This name, stuck to me
And I wish a thousand times
I could remember to forget
But I forgot how
