flooding river
forbidden waters
makes one weak
a drowning man
knows no peace
flooding river
winding down
like a warden
grants no release
flooding river
gonna take my home
leave me naked
and alone
mean old river
so unkind
shows no mercy
leaves nothin' behind
makes one weak
a drowning man
knows no peace
flooding river
winding down
like a warden
grants no release
flooding river
gonna take my home
leave me naked
and alone
mean old river
so unkind
shows no mercy
leaves nothin' behind

Welcome to DUP!:) This is a great start for sure. I think at times most of us feel like we are in a prison. Life washes away our soul. Good image you create here. :)

Hello
I saw your piece in a comp. And thought wow! So I came to visit and well, yes you provided what I expected and more.
You are an extremely tallented writer of poetry and I thank you for the opportunity to read your wonderful words of art.

This reads as a song. A blues song. And very appropriate as my home state, Louisiana has flooded from a hurricane. Nicw piece.

Thank you for your wonderful remarks! I'm so sorry you got hit hard with the hurricane. I'm in the deep south and we got lots of rain, too but not nearly as much as you all did. Are you cajun by any chance? Faith

No, I live in the north part of the state but most of my family are in New Orleans area. Not cajun, just country. Thank you.

What a nice surprise to see you have read one of my older pieces. Thank you for that and for your lovely comments. I appreciate it. This was actually my first post on DUP many moons ago.

your powerful and evocative poem that captures the destructive force and relentless nature of a river in flood. you evokes a feeling of helplessness and despair, particularly with the lines describing the river taking away one's home and leaving them naked and alone. your ink effectively captures the raw power of nature and the devastating consequences it can bring.

Hello faithmairee,
I went back in time to your first poem. I love it. Great description. The visual, the detail and the image is perfect. A work of art for your first poem here.
