Leave This Be

The sunset falls over a stone,
Bathing it in golden light.
Leave this tender scene alone!
'Tis no other grave this grand tonight.

Leave beauty be, fair and free!
Let this grave stand, for this is thee.
And weep I do, weeping--
As thou art infinitely sleeping.

I envy the pillow in thy coffin,
For shall it caress thy cheek, in hands.
Silky, and 'twas thy skin--
Forever more this whispering wind

For I envy the coffin itself!
In its arms, within thou art held.
I wish to hold thee one more time,
In the same sunset light.

Leave this tender stone alone!
For marks the only name I speak,
And held within, the only love I seek
Still in spirit, body and mind.
Throughout the end of time...
