my need for sleep

I have been awake all night
Out my window darkness is the sight
Day light will be coming soon
The sun will replace the moon
My need for sleep is always there
But a good long rest is rarely here
I have thoughts running through my brain
It is never ending, makes sleep a strain
I try to write down some words
They sometimes may sound absurd
What I think I’m trying to do
Is share my thoughts with you
It may seem to be so small
But it clears my head after all
I talk about some things I’ve done
May sound like nothing to some
I know it isn’t really the best
But it clears my head so I can rest
