Power
It is a retained knowledge,
Though diminished in its importance
Rarely applied to the notions that come to play –
Power comes with the greatest of costs
It is often disfigured
Contended that wealth is its primary element
And yet the simplest pedestal
Leading, contending, applying, achieving
Are most often the chiefs of its character
Influence, supremacy, authority –
Prodigals of greatness that wreak havoc
It’s will has been altered, tainted
Little longer pursuing to secure happiness
Instead justifying the passing of obstacles in obtaining more
With sullied regard to the consequence of its virtue
Upon strength of mind and wealth of life
A duty of perseverance and the well being of other’s society
Demands a contingency of natural sympathies
Such is the purse that comes with power,
An obligation required to seek out modesty
Yet the pollution of true power has been obscured
A quest to rise above instead of a will to aid
It is with great sadness that its good manners,
Belittle to a things unrecognizable to those who have it
Has become little more than a goal
Repressed in its purest form
‘Tis a cost not to be trifled with
For the fall of its duty will supersede the glory
And its ignorant handler, dragged down with its unfulfilled deeds
Though diminished in its importance
Rarely applied to the notions that come to play –
Power comes with the greatest of costs
It is often disfigured
Contended that wealth is its primary element
And yet the simplest pedestal
