Storm
Halfway between dusk and dawn
A woman caught in the storm
Moments before she was to return home
On the ground, landed her limp form
The lightning pierced the curtain of a cloud
Penetrating the resistant shadow
Roaring thunder, allowed no other sound
A threat of the damage to grow
Children coward beneath their beds
A woman trapped beneath the rage
Lightning struck, stripping the trees
Unwilling to receive the voltage
The storm subsided, but the hurt wouldn’t leave
The pain, the fear, instilled
A nightmare, not real, refusal to believe
Such a travesty, would’ve rather been killed
A rainbow was forming, as closure, an end
Her rainbow: proof, realization
A child of hate, loss of control, and pain
A bastard of sin and violation
A woman caught in the storm
Moments before she was to return home
On the ground, landed her limp form
The lightning pierced the curtain of a cloud
Penetrating the resistant shadow
Roaring thunder, allowed no other sound
A threat of the damage to grow
Children coward beneath their beds
A woman trapped beneath the rage
Lightning struck, stripping the trees
Unwilling to receive the voltage
The storm subsided, but the hurt wouldn’t leave
The pain, the fear, instilled
A nightmare, not real, refusal to believe
Such a travesty, would’ve rather been killed
A rainbow was forming, as closure, an end
Her rainbow: proof, realization
A child of hate, loss of control, and pain
A bastard of sin and violation
