A New Fire

I was beginning to lose hope
This world has taken me in so deep
It's a miracle to even get some sleep
The only word in my head was 'nope'.

I'm over here aiming for success
While the world would slap me in the face
Everything seemed like such a disgrace
People around were all working for the press.

I can't remember the last time I had joy
My whole world has become very dark
I felt helpless swimming near a shark
Then I remembered, I am no longer a little boy.

The tides around me turned upside down
I would rise again upon every fall
Knocking down each and every single wall
Aiming high for my very own crown.

A passion grew in my heart with an immense fire
To show the lost the way to the light
In darkness things can be turned bright
But only if you allow yourself to be inspired.
