Trevi Fountain
I hold a 5 Euro Cent in my hand,
Unwilling to waste any more on a silly fountain,
When I know it's prayers that get answered.
But as I sit on this cool marble ledge,
With coins whizzing and flipping on either side of my head,
I can't help but squeeze my eyes shut and think real hard.
What to wish for?
What prayer should I attach to this little coin?
What dream should I join with all the others surrendered to Trevi?
Fame and fortune, I'd take or leave.
Of love, I've already got an overflow.
I'm healthy and secure, in this life and the next.
I'm happier then I have ever been in my life!
I am doing in these few days what I have dreamt of my whole life.
What else could there be for me?!
A smile slides over my lips as I flip my coin high over my head
Hand-warmed metal splashing into cold water,
Sinking down to rest with a hundred other hopes and dreams.
God, please let me come back!
