Dreamwalker

Dear readers,

I haven't posted anything in forever. This poem is dedicated to a dearest friend that I currently lost in a house fire this year. It's been a rough year and I'm only beginning to heal. I hope you guys enjoy this.


I walked through this dream,
the leaves on the trees were trying to hold onto the twigs of the trees
Their radiant colors filling up the beautiful landscape
The sky was crystal blue
I walked down a winding trail in front of me
Abruptly,
I find a standing figure in the middle of this winding trail
I stop in my tracks...
noticing that this figure is someone that I love
Slowly I start to walk towards this figure
Tears roll down my face as I embrace this beautiful person
"ssshhhh..."She said soothingly while stoking my hair
"So tell me something," I whispered, "tell me that everything will be okay. Tell me a lie so I don't have to worry anymore. Why can't you stay with me? Why did you have to go so soon?"
She just held me in her longing embrace,
she hummed a soothing melody
I held on tighter,
I promised myself that I wold never let her go through this wild ride,
But in the end,
She slipped away from my grip
Forever she will be out of my sight
With blurry eyes,
I looked up at this beautiful person
Her body was disappearing into the landscape behind her
"Don't leave!" I begged while a sob was threatening to escape from my throat
The ghost of the figure only smiled
"I'm never leaving, I'll forever be in your heart," she whispered.
She leaned in and gave me one last embrace,
Then she was gone
I curled up into a ball and sobbed
With a slight jolt I awoke,
I felt the tears on my cheeks
My heart was beating twice its speed,
Knowing that that nightmare that I just had
Just became my reality
