The Sin
It was nothing like that:
no impediment or compunction,
no barrier to struggle
through, no sense of terror
or atavistic revulsion.
Perhaps this shouldn't be surprising,
perhaps it's romantic to expect
that epiphany realization, that
sudden sense of fate's diverging
pathways: such moments must always
slip by unnoticed to be added later
in hindsight: still buried
beneath the incidental details.
