Mountains

In the middle of a mountain valley,
Everything is quiet,
Two people sitting opposite each other,
Not a word, completely silent.

Searching through each other's eyes,
Looking for something lost,
Wind rattles through a million trees,
Rattles through love's ghost.

It's nigh on 40 degrees,
But it's really cold right here,
Sitting opposite a stranger,
When it's a lover who should be near.

He texts someone else,
Wishing he was with his whore,
Sleeping in single beds,
Because I don't do it for him anymore.

He gets up silently,
Makes coffee for him alone
I lay in bed, silent tears,
Because I saw the messages on his phone.

'it's magical here,'
He said to her 'Wish I was with you'
'sounds wonderful' she said to him,
'I really miss you too'.

A family emergency,
He loves me again,
But a wall is being built.
I drink quietly, hold his hand,
Tell him it'll be fine.
Bide my time, watch my tone,
Build a wall with mountain stones.
