A Simple Lie
Love is torture
It can rip you to shreds
That’s why I stay away
And just pick at the threads
I’m just too afraid
Afraid to get hurt
Because I don’t want to end like
Someone who’s now in the dirt
Who could blame me?
It’s just the way I am
It's not like anyone
Ever gave a damn
And truthfully
Neither did I
Because my dad always taught me
Love is a simple lie
He would repeat it
Over and over
With actions and words
Until all was a blurr
And not just him
Almost everyone in my life
That's why it's hard to trust
Anyone with a knife
My father and I own a knife
Well actually a collection of them
Does that mean we can't be trusted?
Yes, because we aren't the perfect gems...
It can rip you to shreds
That’s why I stay away
And just pick at the threads
I’m just too afraid
Afraid to get hurt
Because I don’t want to end like
Someone who’s now in the dirt
Who could blame me?
It’s just the way I am
It's not like anyone
Ever gave a damn
And truthfully
Neither did I
Because my dad always taught me
Love is a simple lie
He would repeat it
Over and over
With actions and words
Until all was a blurr
And not just him
Almost everyone in my life
That's why it's hard to trust
Anyone with a knife
My father and I own a knife
