Graduation

caps fly in the air
shouts escape excited lips
hydrating the area with hopes and dreams
like  water bursting the dam
the young men and women
my friends are well on their way
spread through the world
making their own paths and journeys
over roads well worn and others less traveled
after this final graduation night
you need to make it last
because unlike the four years before
no matter how fast it went by
was still more time then that final night
possible your last goodbye
before what was once familiar face becomes
something from the past lost in a perpetual state of brief hellos
or lost forever
a friendly stranger
so on this final night take the risk make a memory to last the ages
and when you start on this road
it will be with happiness as your passenger
and memories on the lane
after your graduation
