Nana's Lullaby
Nana
This is your lullaby
A dream ago I held you in the cradle of my arms
From the sky I hung you stars
Your eyes like the galaxy
Hold unfathomable possibilities
I stroked your soft raven feather hair
If only while I sleep I am here
In our serenity I can feel the warmth of your copper skin
As I trace your delicate little dimplesT
hose perfect sea-shell ears
I know that you are mine
As you fall into a peaceful slumber
I whisper you fairytales of worlds far from my reach
They are at your fingertips
Tonight you are mine little one
As your fingers form a clasp round one of mine
I wish this fragile grasp could hold you to me
The morning sets a warm glow upon this new
day I know soon we will drift away
Hush now little girl don’t cry for our parting
Though I’ll still cry for you
We must wait on destiny
To finally bring you to me
Until then sleep my child
Sleep and dream of me
Like I dream of you…
