Seeking That Star
I was as wounding as you,
but we should have never parted,
never have been not one soul, but two.
We should go mostly back,
revoke the things we willed and sputtered
without due thought. Hand in hand, we’ll unmake
the bleak wall we built and mortared, which bled
us senseless to build. We both fell.
But there’s still time, to re-stitch
our bruised and fissured hearts, to say
what we need to say, and tend
to our aches, heal and allay.
We’ll be as we are,
our lives one star.
