Dedication Poeticus . (A closing response)
One For Now.
there comes a point
when every cloud bursts
blue streaked tears across
an empty sky
in truth, I didn’t know
how I felt, but I did
walk outside to see
children playing
in an unforgiving street
and wondered if everything
would be alright in amongst
the tattered threads
it didn’t sound much,
but it’s a pact I wrote
in blood-stained hands
that one day I’d write a letter
to tell you where I left
my maps, and you scribed
your mark on inner thighs
somewhere wholly secret
where red will always count
and ink remains un-dried
And One For Then.
crooked spines
lost shoes and jealous sheets
crushed beneath bibles laid to rest
while we burned the dregs of life
crash the cymbals of our death
and tattoo your teeth, marked
on silent flesh made God
and the howl of opportunity
made grave for nothing less
I have never needed
to hold back any part of myself
but for the going down of the ship
as the rats fatally run
I can no longer wait
I have for eternity dedicated
this space to your memory,
your absence, and your fears
but these are yours now, love
