Tattered Corners

I've got a picture of a girl I missed
It's from that time when we first kissed
It was like a dream, yet like sunrise
Our goodnights, our goodbyes
All part of our demise

I lost the letter that she once wrote
I used to carry it around for hope
It asked me if I wanted a lunch date
Our goodbyes, our fate
Too little, too late

Here comes another cliché, pho-
-tograph, memory of times long passed
Edges torn and tattered corners
All battered by ti-i-ime

I've got a Polaroid of our prom
That time I thought you were the one
Though I think that was in my head
I can't help but think when I'm in bed
How would it have gone?

I've got a photo from that time we flew
The time we faced that beast as two
Everything hurt but we still smiled
And I've been wondering all the while
Is there still something here?

Here comes another cliché, pho-
-tograph, memory of times long passed
Edges torn and tattered corners
All battered by ti-i-ime
One more picture on my camera roll
It lights this spark within my soul
Heart is torn and tattered core
All shattered by ti-i-ime

Did I wait too long?
Did I wait too late?
Did we lose that chance?
Fail to find our fate?
Did I wait too long?
Or would it never come?
Did we miss out chance?
Or was it never fate?
