Living Among the Thorns
Weren't we warned with proverb and parable? Why did we fail to seek sacred scripture?
We find ourselves living among the thorns and thistle, among the briers and bramble.
Is it any wonder we are poked and pierced? Living among the thorns, thieves among thieves. Is it any wonder we are choked, not chosen? Unattended, unadorned, untamed and overtaken. Is it any wonder no one comes to visit, except the devil, who always overstays his welcome? Others walk the narrow way, deep rooted, while those before us living in the thorns were bound and burned. Yet, we remain, having learned nothing; trapped, troubled, torn, separated and segregated, still struggling . . . and living among the thorns.
