Reverie
I wanted you, but then I saw,
I only wanted the version of you
I built in awe.
The beguiling man with eyes so blue,
A daydream I didn’t want to undo.
How did you make my world so hazy,
Half-conscious, hypnotized, always lazy?
By your words, I was forever swept,
In reverie, where my heart wept.
But the world’s noise broke my trance,
I realized why I gave you no chance.
You left a trail of broken hearts,
A lesson learned in painful parts.
How I wish I could turn blind,
To who you are, your truth defined.
You're meant for the streets, for fleeting fire,
For lustful women, and their desire.
But you’re not for me, my love can’t save,
A troubled soul, too deep to crave.
So know when I don't respond, it’s clear,
Your meant for the woman who is currently
In your sheets.
I just can’t live in blissful lies,
I see you now, through clearer eyes.
I only wanted the version of you
I built in awe.
The beguiling man with eyes so blue,
A daydream I didn’t want to undo.
How did you make my world so hazy,
Half-conscious, hypnotized, always lazy?
By your words, I was forever swept,
In reverie, where my heart wept.
But the world’s noise broke my trance,
I realized why I gave you no chance.
You left a trail of broken hearts,
A lesson learned in painful parts.
How I wish I could turn blind,
To who you are, your truth defined.
You're meant for the streets, for fleeting fire,
For lustful women, and their desire.
But you’re not for me, my love can’t save,
A troubled soul, too deep to crave.
So know when I don't respond, it’s clear,
Your meant for the woman who is currently
In your sheets.
I just can’t live in blissful lies,
I see you now, through clearer eyes.
