African Proverb
I am that African proverb,
the child that burned down
the whole village just to feel
it's warmth. Sometimes I can
still hear my brothers
childhood screams.
All I ever wanted was to protect him.
To stand tall against our torturers.
My mother's family were
and still are insisting on keeping
family secrets.
But not I, now I speak about
all the pain that afflicted my soul.
I see it so often people keeping
the family demons hidden.
You reap what you sow,
so let the bloodline fizzle out.
You can't come at me with your
voodoo, I found my power.
For the longest I looked for a light in
all the darkness, I found it.
This generational trauma ends here
with me now.
So come with your witch craft and
spells and I'll burn you at the stakes
With all the other fake bitches.
