Long Since
It’s been three years
since I first laid eyes on your amber iris,
since I tasted your words’ sweetness,
healing the bitterness of my tears,
and since I felt my name on your lips.
Almost one year since the last time I did,
when you steered your ship away
from my already wrecked one
that tried to save yours from sinking.
A hundred and twenty-six days
since I caught a glimpse of you,
fleeting among the stars.
And a few seconds since I cried
a sea for you, for the thousandth time.
Now, I’m feeling deprived,
thirsting for a droplet of hope from you—
someone who long since faded with the clouds—
and with you, a part of me drifted too.
since I first laid eyes on your amber iris,
since I tasted your words’ sweetness,
healing the bitterness of my tears,
and since I felt my name on your lips.
Almost one year since the last time I did,
when you steered your ship away
from my already wrecked one
that tried to save yours from sinking.
A hundred and twenty-six days
since I caught a glimpse of you,
fleeting among the stars.
And a few seconds since I cried
a sea for you, for the thousandth time.
Now, I’m feeling deprived,
thirsting for a droplet of hope from you—
someone who long since faded with the clouds—
and with you, a part of me drifted too.
