Dead Sea

As torpid as the Dead Sea, I became.
With eyes devoid of sparkling stars,
and a smile dulled like worn velvet.
My soul withered with every breath,
clogging my lungs with dismal air.
My body floated with paralysis,
swallowed up in bed.
Fungi rooted within my organs,
rotting my insides.
As stagnant as the Dead Sea, I remained.
