Flicker
I saw the light break through the dark,
A trembling flame, a fragile spark.
For just a moment, I could breathe,
A fleeting dream, a chance to leave.
But shadows whispered in your voice,
And I was drowning in the choice.
Was it freedom calling me,
Or just a lie you let me see?
Let me go—
Just once, I’ll run.
Before the night
Eclipses the sun.
But your hands pull tight, I can’t escape,
A fleeting light consumed by fate.
I hear the echoes of my name,
A broken sound, a fleeting flame.
I thought I’d find the strength to fight,
But you are darkness; I am night.
And every step away from you
Leads me to what I can’t undo.
Was it mercy in your eyes,
Or just the fire where hope dies?
Let me go—
Just once, I’ll run.
Before the night
Eclipses the sun.
But your hands pull tight, I can’t escape,
A fleeting light consumed by fate.
I thought I saw a way to mend,
To break your hold, to find the end.
But every path leads back to you,
A labyrinth I can’t break through.
You are the thread I can’t unwind,
The tether bound into my mind.
Let me go—
Or let me burn.
If there’s no way
For me to return.
Your love’s a cage, I wear it still,
A fleeting hope I cannot kill.
And when the light is gone again,
Will I remember who I’ve been?
You are the night; I am the flame,
And I’ll keep burning in your name.
