Hollow Crown
I feel your weight upon my chest,
A hollow crown I can't contest.
You speak in tongues I almost know,
A language carved in undertow.
Each step I take is backwards now,
Your shadow bends, I learn to bow.
And I am tethered to the ache,
A fragile thread I dare not break.
Drag me down where your kingdom starts,
Bury me beneath your heart.
Lay your claim, tear my temple down,
Crown me with your hollow crown.
Let the void seep into my veins,
'Til nothing but your will remains.
Your hands are cold but so alive,
A haunting gift that I survive.
You are the fire, I am ash,
A fleeting moment, burned to glass.
Each breath I take is less my own,
A foreign hymn I can't disown.
And I am falling, piece by piece,
A fading plea for your release.
Drag me down where your kingdom starts,
Bury me beneath your heart.
Lay your claim, tear my temple down,
Crown me with your hollow crown.
Let the void seep into my veins,
'Til nothing but your will remains.
Was I ever whole before you came?
Or just a void that begged for flame?
You give me purpose, give me pain,
A fragile balance I can't sustain.
And if I break, will you remain?
Or find another soul to drain?
Drag me down where the shadows play,
Make me yours, take it all away.
Lay your claim, tear my temple down,
Crown me with your hollow crown.
Let the darkness speak through my veins,
'Til nothing but your voice remains.
And when I stand, I’ll wear your mark,
A hollow king, eclipsed by dark.
The world will fall, the sun will drown,
But I will bear your hollow crown.
