Love Isn't Always Like the Poets Say.

Ugh.
Poets only write about love.
Love poems make me sick.
So, when I do write about love,
I don't write to an unknown lover.
I just write about Love herself.
Her raw and broken form.
I feel her deeply because she flourishes within me,
She's not as put together as the poets say.
She gets dragged round like a rag doll,
And sort of treated like a pet.
They speak of her as if she is Desire,
But most poets don't know,
She is actually Unknown.
She is the Storm,
Not the Sun or the Light.
She is the Breaking.
She isn't the field full of flowers,
Or the sweet starlight guiding home the sailors.
She isn't kissing in the rain,
Or soft brushes against one's skin.
She breaks your limbs,
And climbs right in.
When you're drowning, she is the water that enters very hole.
She is violent.
She is reckless.
Though you may cut her,
Still, she'll pick up your idle heart,
And fill it with blood.
She scorches you as she crawls into your veins.
She is the beating,
The bruising.
She is the war within your soul.
Love isn't sweetly poetic,
She is perfectly deranged.
She picks you up like a Valkyrie in a war you died in.
She breaks your broken bones to put them back into place.
Love isn't always like the poets say.
