The Roles I Played and Made
Upon taking my first breath when I came into this world
The mask I wore was a blank canvas of innocence
What transpired between then and now has been a whirl
A rollercoaster ride of both harmony and dissonance
I’ve been a liar
Stabbed and fired
I walked barefoot over the pyre just to get my point across
Then it was moot and dire
But I grew tired
Of mourning over things I couldn’t control and counted as a loss
Over the years I’ve been through plenty of mischief and mayhem
But the facades I wore became the faces to different personalities
A coordinator of chaos, adding peanut butter when I was in a jam
It’s been like switching hats to play the parts in all the formalities
Now that I’m old the masks have gotten wrinkled and scarred
From all the burns I learned to tell truth without having fear
Time has been a foe and a friend that was also vanguard
In helping me build the vessel I now command and steer
And when I die the mask I’ll wear will tell a whole life story
Without the gory details it will have many colors and forms
The marks will bare my triumphs but also some of the tragedy
For all the roles I played and made from the day I was born
