‘Tis the season for
posed pictures
playing pretend
buying gifts
returned in the end
congenial time spent
while hiding my hand
desired phantom
castles of sand
with inner conflict
i’m mucking through
these yearly traditions
still wishing ‘twas you
in photos of Christmas
would they then be true?
“you all look fabulous!”
Yet, I just miss you…
