Wishing in Vain
How I wished to spark
The blown-out candle in your eyes,
How I wished to feel
The twisting pain behind your gaze.
How I wished to wipe away
The tears staining your cheeks,
The blood trickling down
Your bruises and scars.
How I wished to dull the knife
You called your favorite,
And help you off the floor
To sleep on the bed.
How I wished to carry away
The boulder weighing down
On your smothered heart,
To atomize it into dissipated dust.
The blown-out candle in your eyes,
How I wished to feel
The twisting pain behind your gaze.
How I wished to wipe away
The tears staining your cheeks,
The blood trickling down
Your bruises and scars.
How I wished to dull the knife
You called your favorite,
And help you off the floor
To sleep on the bed.
How I wished to carry away
The boulder weighing down
On your smothered heart,
To atomize it into dissipated dust.
