Self Absorbed

I wasn't paying attention
I didn't hear what you said
It wasn't my intention
I was self absorbed instead
Myself was my only concern
I didn't hear your crying
Your emotions I could not discern  
Seeking help you were trying
You needed an ear to listen
You needed a shoulder to lean on
I could have helped your condition
But I left you alone and forgone
Now no longer can we share
Future memories created together
Your suicide is impossible to bear
You were like my lifelong brother
Unimaginable guilt saddens my heart  
Lifes challenges I now face alone
I feel like my worlds been ripped apart
As we now venture futures unknown
