moments to remember
“Dream as if you’ll live
forever, live as if you’ll die
today.”—James Dean
let’s build a dream that no one else can dream:
of honeysuckle kisses full of rhyme;
red heart-to-heart love promises that theme
the mountainsides with passions in their prime.
let’s leave our footprints in the sinking sand,
ere some gigantic wave comes to the shore
and ferries it across some distant land
whence, wanderlusting, we must hopes explore.
let’s populate the river with dark skin,
and watch the ripples come about your loins
as, snorkel-diving by my dorsal fin,
i navigate your gently swelling quoins.
let’s etch our names into deep ebon bark.
that time may fuse their hieroglyphic stain
and render them a sharp unembered spark
that greets us e’er we pass this way again.
let’s whisper summer sonnets on the grass,
and parse the secrets of love’s manifest,
that we may know the bouquet of its kvass
when bones of yours and mine have coalesced.
