What Lurks

Beneath the moon’s cold, frigid light
Where silence reigns and shadows creep
A nameless terror haunts the night

Its form is lost to mortal sight
Its whispers pierce the dreams of sleep
Beneath the moon’s cold, frigid light

It waits beyond the bounds of right
In depths where icy secrets seep
A nameless terror haunts the night

Its breath is frost, its will a blight
Its hunger vast, its voids run deep
Beneath the moon’s cold, frigid light

No prayer can banish, nor flame ignite
The darkness where its tendrils sweep
A nameless terror haunts the night

Beware the stillness, pale and white
For death it sows, and souls it reaps
Beneath the moon’s cold, frigid light
A nameless terror haunts the night
