Far Beyond

Late night staring at the stars
On the bleachers at the park
After dark
A warm swift breeze flowing off and on
Holding me close
Your chest so warm
Heart beating fast
Hands holding mine firmly
So still we sat, the breeze couldn't move us
I was cold
You place your shirt over my shoulders
And again grip tightly as if you were afraid the breeze would sweep me up
I wondered that night about many things
Could we marry
Could we lay
Could we be together...forever
Staring at the stars and visioning a future
Guess the stars weren't aligned for our union to prosper
I often think, why didn't I see this
But perhaps when your in love you can't take off the rose colored lenses
Because perhaps you don't want to
Perhaps there is someone greater
But no one like you
Perhaps there is a future just not with you included
Maybe it's now time to replace old lenses with the new
Perhaps a clear lens
Stars seem to gleam and give off the possibility
Indeed I was staring a bit much, in fact wandering way too much beyond our means
