Lament

strike the bell at midnight's favor
mi amore over darkness
sheltered faith awakens, bedazzled by your haunting song
coming from the melancholy shadows yawning
shaking the cold from her small form

she looks to me and I warn
tis Lord Lucifer you heard lilting on the winds
his heart is breaking

go softly now he summons
it is an easy hand he desires
some company, to him you are but a child

he beckons come forth
tell him of a happy day ine garden shade
little wanderer eden's first blush
born of gold dust and desire

sunlight filtering through the trees
exposes hjm in keen observation
while the delicate child composes dance
to accompany his music

melodies of great tenderness
his sorrow is contagious and she stops
and peers at him intently

Lucifer come play with us
it's early in the morn
we are the children time has forgotten

the fair maiden has collected us along the way
your quiet beauty astonishes my youthful gaze
we are mourning your grief

I stay silent
retreating into my solemn
a vow upon my lips
my love of you never faltering
I wish you to be free of my burden

the children of scorn circle around
Lucifer scans the shadows one more time
he will stay and regret what he cannot alter
my grievous error known, I lament

Lucifer shatters the silence with his keening
I weep with him
together, only for the moment

for centuries he waited
time shook the heavens
allowed me but a chance at goodbye

we embrace
the children depart
time looks away
Lucifer curses his pain complete

forever to wander without me
