Time hurts

In the beginning of our relationship  
During our adventures
Id jest with the phrase  
"Youve been gone for so long!"
Though it was only 5 minutes
 
And the days youd cook dinner
Coming back from the kitchen with kisses  
Id continue the jest  
"You've been gone for so long!"
Though it was at most 20 minutes
 
But then i had to move
And saw you less than i wanted
But the days i finally got to see you
The phrase escaped my lips
"Youve been gone for so long!"
Though it was at least 4 days
 
Then we broke up
How much i missed you
To the point of calling you at 1am
Only to hear your voice quiver
"Youve been gone for so long"
Being 2 months without you
 
But after you've passed
And how hard i grieve
Remembering the phrase
"Youve been gone for so long"
 Now mournful over 2 years later
