A Message In Silence

 
In silence deep, where shadowed whispers fall
A ghostly form stands mute beneath the trees
No voice it lends, no sound escapes at all
But speaks in darkness, carried on the breeze

The grave, so cold, where once bright love did burn  
Now holds no warmth, no light for heart or eye
Yet in the quiet, spirits still return
With speech unseen, their message from the sky

In hollow winds, the words are softly stilled
Their meaning bound to shadow and to night
No mortal ear may hear the air be filled  
With silence that doth quench the fire's light

For love and death in stillness do conspire
Their song is hushed, yet echoes never tire
