Wandering Scavenger

Street art of Jego Field, adorned with a quote:
“The joining of hands builds the nation,
and the union of hearts eases hardships.”
Down the alleyway, little fountains flowed upward
defying gravity before falling back gracefully.
The city walls, a legacy, as the sign described,
their ancient nature enduring hundreds of years,
just like the sculpture of the wheel.

Amidst tens of stones,
you can always find one that stands out for you.
A gray boulder with rough edges, reflecting
the battles it survived to be here, still.
Close by, pigeons strutted confidently, searching for scraps
bobbing their heads with their quirky movements.

I passed a café sign named “Come In”
instead, I walked away with a chuckle.
I stepped into another,
and sat down next to an abstract painting,
dark colors of black and gray on one side,
lighter tones of white on the other,
expressive brushstrokes blending,
accents of gold and copper adding warmth to the artwork.

Afterwards, i stumbled—
no Lilliputian was harmed—across a hidden gem,
apparently, it’s revealed now. A local shop with antiques,
a cluttered collection of small objects and decorations,
so many that my eyes missed half of them,
I realized that after exploring the pictures,
It was as if it’s the first time I was seeing them
I regretted not noticing a few,
I probably should get my eyes checked.

On my way back, a pretty white blooming flower
caught my eye, shortly before a little furball appeared,
colors matching my outfit, white and cream.
I smiled and flagged down a taxi.
