She is with family and birthday cake
He’s on the front lines of the war
She makes a wish and blow out candles
He’s hunkered down cold and tired
She imagines better times 2013 high school
For the twelfth year I’m in classroom with family
She knew him since first grade they stay
With the same class 1 to 12
She arranges high school reunion
The last class that graduated without war
They come together but two are missing
Yaroslav and Andrii can’t get away from the bullets
She talks to Andrii on zoom on the front
She asks what he signed up for
I signed up for freedom first of all
Being free to talk to you
Being free to drive anywhere
Being free to is having Wings
She asks what’s your dream
He looks up eyes dart back and forth
Says he doesn’t know if he’ll wake tomorrow
It’s hard to dream doesn’t know what to say
He says he dreams he’d wake up
Like this war didn’t happen
She texted Yaroslav he says he might make the party he doesn’t know yet
Last words she heard from him
He’s 5 days past his 28th birthday
Family now has to plan a funeral
How can so many treat life so trivial
Why do we fight wars
Why do we kill ourselves
Why can’t we all have Wings
