Caged Tears.
I suck a sob inside,
inhaling just in time,
before that pitiful cry,
dares to leave my throat,
threatening to expose,
the depth of my weary woes.
My eyes sting,
and my brows scrunch,
a painful smile
making itself known.
How I wish to let
the salty waterfall
cascade, but I must
hold the dam, and take
a deep breath, turning
my head away.
this is not the time,
this is not the day.
Others are not ready
to know my hurt,
to hear my dismay,
so I keep them in,
tears not just bottled,
but caged, a lock,
promising to keep them
in their place.
